I am participating in NaNoWriMo this year (officially) and have unofficially participated off and on for years.

I like NaNoWriMo because it’s like a way to restart my writing process. Plus real life has been particularly rigorous and hard this past year ironically enough starting last year in November. So this year I’m using Nano to get back into my writing groove. And I recently made some decisions (with the help of some writing friends) regarding my writing career.

Nano has helped me jump start my writing juices. But since I haven’t really been an official participant in the past I guess I never really paid attention to all the hype and comments about Nano. I didn’t realize that some people may write a novel in November and submit it in December with little to no editing. It never even occurred to me to do that. And it also never occurred to me to mention that I wrote a story/manuscript during NaNo. I don’t know what the month the book was written in matters. I admittedly was naive about the process and about how some agents and publishers feel about NaNo books.

Why do you NaNo? Or are you NaNo-ing?
